Feeling philosophical prior to the big holiday

Fate is; we can but change how we choose to deal with it. For every door that closes another is opened. For every love that passes, something beautiful remains....

Well it's almost upon me and the holiday looms ever closer and I'm still not looking forward to the flight. Oh well, it's a good excuse to write fanfic as any. I'll be mainly posting on the Krow's Holiday blog whilst I'm there, providing of course I can find a cybercafe of some description.

I have this bizarre urge to go out and dance in the rain...........probably should stop eating strawberry laces and listening to Josh Groban.....

Until next time, stay safe everyone

Pegasus 2 ROCKED Like no other con before!!

Just a couple of pix from the weekend before I do a full write-up

David Hewlett, that strange woman who writes stuff on here and David Nykl

(for the uninformed among you that's Rodney McKay and Radek Zelenka)

Always an uplifting experience when having your photograph taken with Dan Payne....

(you don't normally see Dan's face in Stargate unless it's covered in prosthetics of some kind, usually Wraith or Anubis's Kull Warriors)

Gating in from the Pegasus Galaxy....

Kate and David Hewlett, siblings from hell LOL! Both of them completely adorable in their own unique way
(see the stained glass window in the background? me 'n' Ruthie made most of that, got the burns to prove it)
There's something decidedly fishy about these next 3 pictures..............

Thought for the moment.........

Live.......................do not be content with mere existence, there are no second chances at life. Dance like nobody's watching, Sing like no-one is listening, Feelings are all around us so be gentle.

Pegasus in 1 week!!!!!! *SQUEEEEEEE*

OMG! I can't believe it's only a week to go, well less than really. We've now had David Nykl and Ivy Eisenberg announced, that's Radek Zelenka and the LA casting director. Rodney and Radek, David and David on stage together.........you just know it's gonna be chaos! *dances*

I'm so excited,
and I just can't hide it,
I'm about to lose control and I think I like it..............Yeah, yeah!

I collect part of my fancy dress costume tomorrow morning, my mermaid's tail, the rest of my stuff is mostly done, just got one or two bits and pieces left to finish then I'm set. Got a Hoshin seminar tomorrow afternoon, the rest of the weekend I'll be getting my suitcase out of the attic and starting to pack, it'll take me 'til Thursday to make sure I've got everything LOL!

Hotel for Thursday now sorted *phew*

Until the next time I bid you all a fond farewell!!!!

Getting Very Excited!!!!

Pegasus 2 in 2 weeks!!!!!!!! *dances*

Have already started packing, not even got hotel sorted for Thursday night yet LOL! Ruthie, love her has bought me a ticket for the screening of 'A Dogs Breakfast' I didn't even know they were on sale *snigger* it pays to have friends 'in the know'. Am still scrabbling 'round getting my fancy dress costume sorted out and panicking because I've lost the telephone number of the lady who's making my tail for me *oops* but I've just bought the shoes off ebay and the sequins so need to get to work .... fast.... It's not fair I had to choose which theme to go with *pouts* Under the Sea for Atlantis or the Jedi Chef's theme of Superheroes as both are going on on Saturday night. So excited! we've got Dan Payne, David Hewlett, Erin Chambers, Ryan Robbins and Kate Hewlett and all us Dan fans are going to have a meet up *bounces* I'll even get to meet Alipeeps whom I met 'virtually' on the fanfiction site and got talking to.

Seriously need to dye my hair, I've got blonde roots coming through *shock horror*

Had a great night at M.A. Training last night but more than a little bruised this morning LOL, that's what you get for chucking blokes around who are a heck of a lot bigger than you are *snigger* so much fun though, more so when they stop treating you like you're made of glass and will shatter if they hit you *rolls eyes*

More tonight *evil grin*

Stuff

OK I know I never finished the SG-11 commentry MEH! who cares it ended just as brilliantly as all the others *grin* but I will get around to posting photos

Christmas was crap, took me 4 hours to get home from Derby then came down with a cold an hour later, double MEH!!

Last 'Hotshots' party was amazing and somebody has actually videoed me dancing one of my favourite's called 'The Beast' will see if I can post it on here, if you've never seen proper line dancing it'll be a bit of an eye opener *grin*

New Years Eve was brilliant, felt like a princess in my medieval costume, all my best friends in Derby all around.........Happy Days!!!

SG-11 - Heathrow, London

Damn these conventions are just too much fun!!!

Got up early Thursday morning (if you know me you'll know what an achievement that is *grin*) last minute bits of packing and cleaned car out before dumping everything in there. OK off to Dewsbury hunting either fringing or satin ribbon in pale blue for my ABBA costume because I kept putting it off until tomorrow *rolls eyes*. Didn't find any fringing but got some nice wide satin ribbon, ran back to the car and finally set off about 11am.
Motorway not as bad as usual but plenty of music for me to sing along to and I'm happy. M25 deserted which was amusing but better for me and I actually found the Heathrow Lodge straight off, Go Me! checked in at about 1.30pm and dragged my stuff round to the house (converted houses into various rooms with shared bathroom), just trying to get in the door was interesting and I won't even tell you about trying to get a suitcase nearly my height and weight up a flight of stairs!!! Sheesh!! Room was a big disapointment as it was dirty but for the price and the fact my suitcase was now there I couldn't be bothered complaining. Rang Ruthie as I set off walking down to the Thistle ('bout 5-10mins walk), she was just getting on the Hopper so I beat her to the hotel. Jane shouted over from the main entrance when I tried to get in, they'd all taken a break so a group of us were sat talking for a bout 30 mins before anything got done. When we finally got back in there again we were all sworn to secrecy over the 2 gates. The old SG gate was auctioned off on the proviso that the winner took it away but it never was so it was supposedly scrapped. However somebody saved it and between me and Ruthie we 'pimped' the Stargate LOL! forget the TV Show 'Pimp my Ride' we're more unusual. Had to glue little mirrors at intervals round the whole thing and stick some peel-offs over some of the lines, looked great when it was finally up. Then I ended up finishing some work of Sarah's making the Ori symbol to go at either end of the stage. Painting those was a hoot but Piper hates me (in a good way) LoL and would you believe I still get the cracks about having packets of sugar in my pocket after I had a little 'incident' at P1 *rolls eyes, sniggering* Can't really remember much of what happened after that but eventually we finished and went out for a carvery meal quite late on. During this there was much hilarity including the 'I am cow, hear me moo, I weigh twice as much as you' song but the best was Ruthie and Jane starting up the Lama song, you had to be there I swear LOL.
Friday morning panic all over, Mark had jigsawed out a piece he shouldn't have from the Ori symbol so we had to do another which took ages on and off. The gates kept being moved around and the staging put in place, the lighting people arrived and we all had to stay out of the way. Various other people turned up but it all went by in a bit of a blur. Got my stewarding duties from Denise only to find that I had duties from 4pm-6pm but I was covered in paint and still had loads of stuff to do on the set, when I went to the desk where I was supposed to be on duty they were no help at all so I explained to Gillian from the Tech crew where I was currently working and between everyone we got it sorted out but I felt kinda bad for not being able to help there as well. Like everyone says though, you can't be in 2 places at once. I got dragged away at about 6pm to eat and get ready for the evening; wore my gorgeous gothic dress. Didn't actually have a M&G ticket but due to the hard work and long hours we were let in *grin* sat with Tiggerific (no idea what her name is, oopsie) and unfortunately we were told on a couple of occasions to keep the noise down when we got a bit rowdy but it was fun. The guests were great and I love it when they've never been before they're just so.......oh I don't know.......NEW! Paul actually remembered me from L3 in Bognor last year which shocked me somewhat but it's all good. After the M&G partying started but something was missing and I don't know what it was. Talked with many people did lots of con dances, talked with Phil in the corridoor, went through 'Take on me' with Francie.........eventually ended up sitting with the Jedi Chef's as usual but it was late when Ruthie and me went back to the hotel after ingesting copious amounts of alcohol, JD on my part :-).

To be continued..........

I hate those words.......just watched SGA The Return part 1 and it really irks me when they leave horrendous cliff-hangers like that *AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH*

".............."

For those of you waiting for an update I may have one next week after SG11 and maybe something from the class Halloween dance tonight.

Right at this moment all I feel like doing is finding a forgotten cave somewhere no-one can find me, curling up in a corner and staying there until the world goes away. Don't ask me why because I don't have an answer but if anyone winds me up tonight I'm liable to either cry or beat the shit out of them.

Oh and Carl, if you're reading this no mention of it at work please, the rest of the office is irritating enough without you asking, I'm liable to say something I'll regret then Sara will come and beat me up.

The evil fairy twats it with a spanner when the spell doesn't work using the wand.

My Birthday and other stuff

It's my 31st Birthday today and I'm doing absolutely sod all to celebrate it but I don't care because we had a slight celebration last night, there'll be cake tomorrow night and there's the BBQ at Ness and Tony's on Saturday. I've even got my own little Hobbit chair with my 66 name on it (Frosty if you're curious) shown below plus lots of other cool stuff from my bestest mates (luv to you all if you're reading). More money is about to be added to the Vancouver fund as well thankfully.

On 15th August I bit the bullet and choreographed my first line dance. It's called Wonderful Journey and was written to At the Beginning by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis from the Soundtrack of Disney's Anastasia. This song is one I've had on repeat play after I heard it on an Atlantis music video, it just stuck in my head and would not shift. Anyway I was sat at the computer and the counts just popped into my head, 3 32 counts then an 8 count bridge, 2 more 32 counts and another 8 count bridge and then 4 or 5 walls to the end of the track. It was obviously meant to be because I've never even thought of choreography before. On the Tuesday morning the first 6 counts just popped into my head and then I spent an hour in the evening listening to the music and dancing whatever came to mind in the music, I think it's turned out great. I got to Hotshots (my Derby class) on the following Sunday and as per usual when people asked what I was doing I told them the title but I kept quiet about it being mine. I demonstrated a couple of walls and to my delight everyone (and I do mean everyone) got up to have a go still not knowing my secret. I taught it without any mishaps and asked them at the end what they though, it was a resounding success and I finally admitted that I'd choreographed it. It really is an insane feeling when you do something like that and people enjoy it.

In Martial Arts news I've graded again so I'm going for the 7th level (out of 9; get it, 7 of 9 *snigger*) I'm still enjoying it hugely although it is difficult sometimes and just lately I've not been feeling particularly well. I've had Sinusitis (sinus infection) which has been hanging around for 4 weeks now and for the first time ever I've been taking anti-biotics, something one or two people can't seem to get their head around *shrugs* Well that's everything I can think of for now and will be posting the photo's this week sometime.

Later......

The Wedding

Once back from G2 I had the house all to myself until Friday because unbelievably my parents BOTH went to Cornwall for a week. It was fabulous, no football, no rugby, no craft channel, no lousy Australian Soaps just pure unadulterated Sci-fi, fantasy and cheesy 80's TV series.

Saturday the 12th was the wedding of one of my very best and my oldest friends to a great guy whom she met at Uni I think and they currently live in Southampton. Originally I was going to be a bridesmaid but ended up doing a reading, one of Shakespeares Sonnets which I had no idea how to read properly so I just winged it. We turned up at the church and I knew that somehow Caz would end up getting to the church via something to do with horses be it riding side-saddle or by carriage. When I asked Dan (the groom) he didn't know it was a surprise from Caz's parents and turned out to be a matched pair of dapple greys in an open carriage. Of course within seconds of seeing them all us horsy people had asked the names which were Bally and Sky and were half brothers from Ireland. We all got into the church and business went as usual with weddings and it has to be said everyone looked Stunning! I was so nervous when I got up to do the reading I was actually shaking but when I got to the podium I had to stop myself from laughing because I could only just see over the top of it and had to bend the little microphone right down, I think I should have asked for a box to stand on LOL! It was very strange reading the sonnet I just kinda went onto automatic telephone voice but everytime I looked over at Caz she had this HUGE grin on her face so I knew I must have been doing it right. Got through the rest of the ceremony and went back home to wait for the reception.
Got to Holdsworth house (nice place) lots of piccies being taken by the official people I just kina hung around like a loose end 'cos I didn't really know anyone. During the meal I was sat on the first table in front of the top one, facing them and me and Caz kept pulling faces at each other it was great. Got to know a few of the people who I'd heard about but never met. The speach by the father of the Bride was hilarious, especially the recounting of the early 'horsey' years of which I was witness to, the best men were great too, a comedy double act between them.
The party was much as any other but with a live band and lots of people dancing from the onset of the music. I ended up sitting and catching up with Louise and Liz whom I knew from the stables so we just talked mostly about horses all evening, a great send-off to the best couple. I hope to include a couple of photo's here soon.

First of 3 updates in succession - G2

OK, I know I've not updated and have been chastised for not doing so, didn't realise my life was so interesting *grin* but it's my Birthday today and I don't care what anyone says I love my life. Anyway quite a bit has happened since my last update so I'll try and get through it in some sort of order.
GALACTICA 2 - Aaron Douglas (Chief Gaylen Tyrol), Kandyse McClure (Dualla), Paul Campbell (Billy), Nicki Clyne (Cally) and surprise guest Dan Bacon (Gate Tech. from SG-1)
This was at the beginning of August in Daventry and I took my cousin Darren (aka D); the sheer novelty of actually having a member of the family who was interested in coming to a convention is weird enough in itself but I got around it. Arrived at the hotel and quickly introduced D to Ian (JMC033 I think) whom he was sharing a room with for the weekend before dashing off into the back of beyond to pick up Ruthie and Kate from Long Buckby train station. I thought I did rather well considering I didn't actually have a clue where the station was aside from Long Buckby, who says women get lost all the time? I spit in their general direction
Shared a room with Nicki and Ruthie and the hotel was brilliant, the staff loved us until we got pizza from the local Domino's and left the box outside in the courtyard (they didn't know it was us but I overheard one of them bitching about it.....oops!), all I can say in our defence is they should have a waste bin there if then. Friday night at the meet and greet we celebrated my birthday early with cake (cake or death?) and glow sticks, not to mention the ever present Spermies that always end up at Ruthie's house, but I've got my very own Ronon one and he's still sat at the top of the bed *grin*. Much dancing went on that night well into the early hours and D was made a Jedi Chef Apprentice Yay!
Saturday started early as usual, breakfast not as good as the Thistle I thought but the rest of the hotel was better so it balanced. Didn't go to many talks but was Stewarding in the Photoshoot for a few hours which was fun 'cos the usual crowd was there and kept doing the Tesco run with Ruthie. F&C shop for lunch ..... yum! D beat all comers at chess out in the courtyard (one of those giant chess sets) including Aaron but I didn't get any photo's of that one as I was playing Pyramid with Starbuck erm........no sorry it was Jackie and Crashdown erm......no sorry that was Sean but they looked very much like them and it was great. Saturday night was the fancy dress and there were some absolute corkers! several of the JMC's went as Team America (hilarious!!!), another went as Eowyn from LOTR and looked beautiful, there was a Ghostbuster, 2 people had dressed up as Sixth that was Starbuck from the afternoon (Jackie) and Heather whom I met at P1. I do remember someone else went as Starbuck and there was a pirate and of course Crashdown! can't actually remember who won though........I think it might have been Jackie and Heather in those dresses. More partying on Saturday night and D got promoted to JMC *grrrr* I've been on the apprentice program since SG6 and he goes from JCA to JMC in 2 nights! I was not a happy bunny, same with Nicki and here I am always an apprentice never a master *sigh* looks like I'll have to actually make my costume then, have just bought some boots that may do for that. We had a new con dance announced as well, Dan and Kandyse demonstrated it but the only problem is it's the Electric Slide! I've been dancing and teaching that for the last 10 years or so and at 3 times the speed we did it there, Dan kept getting ahead of the music so it was a bit of a mess. I stayed up well into the wee small hours again *grin*
Sunday, same as Saturday but at some point and I can't remember which day it was, the Chef's caught Aaron out during his talk. Most people who've met Aaron know of his dislike for David Caruso (Ginger bloke from CSI, can't act his way out of a paper bag apparently), most of the Chef's dressed up (girlies included) in ginger wigs and smart black suits and walked into Aaron's talk. I wasn't there at the time but I've seen the pictures and the expression on his face is priceless! One truly amazing thing that did come out of G2 was Bert the Cylon, a short piece of animation that apparently took 7 months to create. The cylon walks into a corridoor and stops, a caption comes up saying 'Do cylons dream of electric sheep' then we go into a cylon dream sequence where he's doing the Macarena (no seriously, hand movements, jumps and everything), The Hustle and Saturday Night then we go out of the dream sequence back to Bert the cylon who shakes his head and walks away. We had to get the Tech crew to put it on twice because it was just so hilariously funny and no-one could help but laugh. Sunday night was kinda sad because it was the end but I'd made a couple more new friends and introduced D to the delights of Wolf cons. More dancing, drinking and staying up into the wee hours again.
The following photo's are the Stewards photo and my group shot which I had like 1 minute to do hence the rather bizarre way I'm sitting and I think Dan was copying.
